The project Learn Russian in the EU is a joint initiative of the Department of Russian and Slavic Linguistics at Daugavpils University and Training Center LatInSoft. The Learn Russian in the EU participants run a broad range of accredited study programs in the Russian language, literature, culture, and East European studies for local and international students.
The goals of the project are:
- Provide the Russian language and culture education services to international students;
- Promote Daugavpils as the perfect place for Russian language immersions and study abroad programs in the territory of the European Union.
Daugavpils University, established in 1921, is the major academic and research institution in Eastern Latvia. The Department of Russian and Slavic Linguistics has a long tradition of research and teaching the Russian language and literature to teachers, philologists and linguists from Latvia and many foreign countries.
The Department of Russian and Slavic Linguistics runs the Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs in the Russian philology, as well as programs in pedagogy, translation, and programs in intercultural communication.
Training Center LatInSoft
Training Center LatInSoft was established in 1993 in Daugavpils, Latvia as a branch of LatInSoft SIA – a private company that specializes in the sphere of information technology.
For many years Training Center LatInSoft, a State-accredited educational establishment, has been successfully working in the area of teaching languages and IT skills to adults, teenagers and unemployed people.
Since 2004 Training Center LatInSoft has offered Russian language courses for foreigners.
All “Learn Russian in the EU” teachers are native speakers and have an appropriate degree, professional qualifications and substantial experience in Russian language teaching.
